The Islington Panthers are a community run basketball club which have been competing against the best youth teams in England for over 20 years.
The club have a close partnership with St Aloysius’ College, from where our teams train and play games.
Under 18s National Cup winners!
Our U18s beat the Derby Trailblazers 80-68 to win the 2023/24 Sure Shot U18 Men's National Cup Final.

Our story
The club were originally set up by Guy Lawrence back in 2002, and thanks to his vision and hard work, we now have a thriving club serving young people in Islington and the surrounding boroughs.
Today, Head Coach Will Akuffo has been leading the club for over 15 years. Will believes that sport can be a powerful tool in developing young leaders of our society.
He says, ‘Basketball is a game where players must work within a team, be highly self-disciplined and most importantly respect each other and the game. There is also a great value in competing. If you win, you learn that hard work is rewarded; if you lose you learn to pick yourself up and try again which will eventually result in success, not only for yourself, but the whole team’.
